Task: To complete a timeline of historical people, places, events, etc. With a partner of your choosing you will construct a timeline for either a region or a theme. The timeline will cover 3500 BCE- 1750 CE. I will choose which category you will study. There are several things for you to consider and to place on your timeline, for example major events, wars, political developments, people, ideologies, religions, etc.
Regions: – Consider major components of PERSIAN chart for your region
Europe/ Eurasia
Middle East
Asia – East and Central
South Asia/S.E, Asia
Africa
Themes: – Global perspective – You need to include all major regions
Political – development of nations, dynasties, empires; collapse of empires; wars and military; legal systems
Economic – trade/commerce; agriculture; technology
Social – developments/shifts in social hierarchies; status of women; artistic/intellectual developments; religions.
You will need to identify a minimum of 15 items per time period (3500 BCE – 600 CE, 600-1450, 1450). Each item must have an accompanying description (1-3 sentences). You must also have at least 5 images (no hand-drawn pics) per time period to correlate with your facts. Your timeline can be presented vertically or horizontally. They can be presented on butcher paper or poster boards. They can be hand rendered (except for the visuals) or computer generated timelines. You will need 3 separate poster boards or equivalently sized pieces of butcher paper for the 3 different time periods.
Presentation – Each group will need to present their timelines to the class noting major changes and/or continuities. Groups should also be able to discuss people, events, etc concurrently e.g. “While the Mongols are expanding their territories in Asia and the Mid-East, European nations are busy developing monarchies and a commercial based economy.” (3-5 mins)
Rubric
Items (min. 15 per period) – 2 pts each = 90 pts

Visuals (5 per time period) – 2 pts each = 30
Presentation = 10 pts
Neatness & Creativity = 10 pts
